“The collaborative approach taken by ETG is extremely important not only to us but to our partners.”

When running a lean IT team, it’s crucial to find a partner and not just a service provider. HEALTHeLINK learned this lesson and the rewards have been substantial over the past 3 years.

OVERVIEW

HEALTHeLINK is a collaboration among physicians, hospitals, and insurance organizations to share clinical information in efficient and meaningful ways.

This improves the delivery of care, enhances clinical outcomes, and controls health care costs throughout the eight counties of Western New York.

HEALTHeLINK needed a reliable IT services provider to support their core mission and augment their lean IT team.

After experiencing the shortcomings inherent in using a service provider, Drew McNichol turned to ETG in search of something more. What he found was a strategic partner that has allowed HEALTHeLINK to improve its service and focus on what they do best.

THE PROBLEM

  • Limited budget
  • Changing requirements
  • Time constraints
  • Increasing security requirements
  • Flexibility requirements

As a nonprofit, HEALTHeLINK has limited access to revenue and running a lean IT department allows them to focus on their core mission, but makes working with an IT service provider mission-critical. In January of 2016, HEALTHeLINK was informed that their IT services agency would no longer be supporting them and a new solution would need to be found immediately. Luckily a trusted former colleague recommended EmergenceTek Group. Technology Director Drew McNichol took a chance on ETG to support his engineering needs on a limited basis.

“ETG has the technical competency to get things done on time and under budget.”

HOW ETG HELPED

ETG devised a plan of action with HEALTHeLINK focused on maintaining and re-engineering their existing portal, while also developing an entirely new one. They did this while respecting the time and budgetary constraints inherent to any not- for-profit organization.

Slowly a bond of trust developed between the two organizations as ETG’s role in supporting and developing new features and security for HEALTHeLINK grew exponentially.

This has led to ETG being involved with multiple ongoing projects, all the while maintaining 24/7 technical support.

When HEALTHeLINK needed an ad-hoc service provider they reached out to EmergenceTek. Due to ETG’s continued success, professionalism, and support the relationship transitioned into a strategic partnership.

  • The collaborative approach taken by ETG is extremely important not only to us but to our partners
  • ETG has the technical competency to get things done on time and under budget
  • ETG is easy for us to work with, and that’s saying a lot
  • ETG has the knowledge and flexibility to listen to our needs and collaborate on a solution.

“ETG has the knowledge and flexibility to listen to our needs and collaborate on a solution.”

THE RESULTS

Without exception, development has occurred on schedule and under budget. The easy to work with staff at ETG takes the stress out of the relationship, always being able to provide the exact support needed. We entered the relationship cautiously (due to past experiences with other providers), but learned quickly that our strategic partnership with ETG was both beneficial and low-maintenance.

“We can’t afford to tolerate projects that run over on time or budget, which is why we work with ETG.”

  • Working side-by-side since February of 2016
  • 4,200 executed man hours
  • 7 completed projects
  • 8 open projects in motion or near completion.

“ETG has learned how we work and become a true partner. Some of the bigger guys make us conform to them but ETG has learned our business and conforms to us.”
